This puppy is really done, but never really done.
This is the 4th year on the water.
I will post pics and descriptions as time permits.
As purchased in Aug. 2005

Job 1, the transom.

Not really bad but I did it anyway.

90% of the wood was good, so it made it difficult to remove, so I ended up cutting the back off.

Yes that is Seacast.

Next the interior.

Everything had to go, including that shin busting live well/seat.

Look ma, No Foam! Serious framework under there though.
I didn't even put the wood back, just removed all the old wood, and went over it with another layer of glass.

Front seating too.

Engine work.
About $500 was all it needed.
Did I mention this thing sat outdoors for 13 years?

All three carbs kits, fuel pump, all new lines, water pump, plugs, coils and away she went.

I broke a few bolts, and one seal was ruined by the torch.
My dealer said go no deeper.
I had to do the intake screen as well.
After three years I did the thermostat. It was basically gone.

Trailer time.

Repacked both bearings, and finally replaced one hub altogether.
All rollers replaced, new winch last year. Two new tires.

All new lights (LEDs) and wiring as well.
Trailer was much newer than the boat.

Engine and steering going in.

Shakedown day.

One minor fuel line pinch, but all was well.

Some paint on the cowling made it look great.

Windshields too.

Tragic, or not?
Was real touchy getting it out from under that tree.

The deck saved it. Had it been an aluminum boat, it would have been scrap.
One crack on the hull (12") starboard side near the driver. One smashed windshield and bent rail.
Trailer absorbed some, and bent a couple of roller bars.
I am glad I hadn't carpeted up the sides yet, but it was motivation to finish it.

I have since put a new Tach, and those things in the splash well that the cables go through.
Also plan on a vinyl cover for the ugly stuff in the back.
Always more projects on this boat.
Planes easily with the 65HP, and I have a 70HP waiting should I need it.
26mph max with 4 people aboard.
Boat is 1200 lbs.

This is an pic of the original catalog page Starcraft was kind enough to email me.

One shot of the finished carpeting and my new tach.

Dream projects for this boat eventually are;
New custom windowshields with oak frames
New rails closer to the originals
Patching the 100s of holes
Painting and making the transom look pretty
Rehabing the 76' 70 HP Evinrude I have as the spare.
One boat, lots of stuff left to do.
But at least it is usable!
