TOPIC: Cadillac Sea Lark

Hello, After about 2 years of on and off work , the Sea Lark is almost ready to float. All that is left to do is run the steering cables, and finish up some wiring and flotation. Here are some pictures...Brad lake

I finished up the "custom" cover for the Sea Lark, as you know you cant buy anything off the shelf that will fit a boat with fins so I bought 2 off the shelf covers for $99. ea, cut out the fin and motor areas and used the second cover for material. The cover is n't intended for traveling but it will work great for storage and under its canopy when it is stored on the lake. Brad Lake

I'm sure every other boater will end up with neck problems from turning to look. Also Be careful in marinas too, you'll probably cause a few boats running into docks because they are looking at you instead of where they are riding !

Funny you should say that, we have had a house on Pigeon lake Alberta for 22 years. We have a few friends around the lake, A few years ago when I put my Meteor and then Glass Slipper into the water I must have met everyone on the lake that had a boat that summer !! Those boats are like a magnet to meet people, it got to the point I carry a hand out now show casing the boats.. Great way to meet people !!!! Brad Lake

Yes, it is all fiberglass unlike the original boat that had a glass top and fins with the problematic wooden hull. When Kevin Mueller interviewed the owner of his original he said the wooden hull leaked and the boat sunk at shore a number times. He also mentioned he could feel the hull moving and flexing under his feet at speed, this gave him an uneasy feeling. Thus two of the many reasons to make the fiberglass hull. I like to use my boats allot, I just couldn't see a wooden hull for me, I am a fiberglass guy all the way. It also gave the opportunity to greatly strengthen up the transom area, and raise the water well for a long shaft motor thus being able to put on 100hp compared to the 35hp they came with. I have also done additional strengthening as even with these changes the boat was still only rated for 60 hp. As my 2 Meteors and Glass Slipper all have 40-45hp topping out at about 28-30mph I really wanted allot more out of this boat. It looks like a Rocket Ship sitting still so I felt it needed to be reasonably fast on the water. Brad Lake

Excellent! Yes the wood hulls take a little more TLC than glass but can be a very smooth/soft ride but they have to be taken care of. A 5200 dry bottom would have taken care of that but of course all glass makes it far more maintenance free than the wood.
