TOPIC: New Transom in Glastron GT 160

We just replaced the transom in a 1974 Glastron GT 160...it wasn't fun! We used three layers of 1/2" Eurolite marine ply, two coats of CPES and then fiberglassed everything in place. We also added a rear drain. The top half hanging from the ceiling looks a little half-assed I admit, but it got the job done. Here's the Restoration Photo Log:

Looks just like the one my buddy Wil from north ATL sold not long ago. Nice job Jan, that's no easy feat on those boats. They're also famous for rotting stringers/floor due to poor drainage. And those foam boxes are bad about holding water too. Guess you caught that one in time. Great looking boat.

The owner just recently bought the GT 160 and he's from the Atlanta area so I'm betting it's the same boat. The stringers and floor need replacement too but as with any project, choices have to be made with regard to finances. For now at least, the engine won't be falling in the drink!
