This is about the rub rail on my 20 Y.O. boat, not my glassic. My rub rail insert is in ok shape overall, but sun damaged on the surface. Once blue, it now has a "skin" of tan/gray discoloration. I notice that where it has rubbed a dock, or where I accidentally hit it with a buffer, there's still nice healthy blue rail underneath. I don't want to gouge it up trying to use the buffer for the whole rail. Any ideas on products or techniques to remove the skin and get back to a clean surface?

Hey Norm,

I use a marine product called Roll-Off. It cleans up my rubrail like new. It actually somehow cuts the rubber and I can see the white rubber residue in the cloth.

Thanks Terry. Sounds like it might also work good on my Glasspar's white rubber rub rail, which is very tough to keep clean. The blue rail on my other boat is more like a plastic, not rubber. A guy on another site says he uses acetone followed by 303 protectant. Might try that too, but not on the Glasspar. I think acetone might eat up the rubber.
