Strange funny thing happened on the way home today, a 15' 1972 Sea Sprite followed me home. Being the nice fella I am I took it in to my garage to check it out. Tri-Hull=Junk, 100 hp Evinrude=Perfect! Push button selectric-perfect, no leaks. Brand spanking new Wabash power pack=perfect. ShoreLander trailer w/spare=perfect. Runs and shifts like new. Compression fairly even at 122/130.
Going to "recycle" the hull and part out the rest.
Who says boating isn't fun. Tonight was a bonfire night using old rotten fold down seats as fuel. A few Bud Light Platinum's and some cheap box wine set the mood.

Never had a tri hull. I guess they have their place. I always thought it would be a good fishing platform.

Robert, They are excellent for fishing. No rocking the boat. Around my area on the great lakes they got a bum rap when they first appeared in the '60/'70s from guys saying they are a rough ride because they don't cut the waves (not true). I've had several of them and loved 'em all. They are stable, roomy, lots of room for storage and solid. I guess when you put a different seat configuration on those hulls and call them a party boat it's acceptable
IMHO.

Nice score on the Erude and trailer Cal! Any plans for the new stuff, or just holding for "back-ups"?

I've had a tri-hull Robert, and I really miss it to be honest. As Cal stated they're one of the most stable hull designs ever IMHO. (Working a deal on another even as we speak!) The good thing is there are plenty of them out there in really decent shape, so scrapping one out that's junk is no big sin. ;)

Mark, the parts and motor are going on the market, it's part of what I do for beer money. I posted on the jego site for a heads up and plan to put an ad on craiglist and ebay soon. I got really lucky on the motor, she's a gem.

A 100HP Evinrude would be real nice on my Tri-Hull.
My youngest (13 yrs.) and I are just learning to slalom.
The current 65HP is nice, but lacking a little.
The boat is rated for 110HP. What state are you located in?

63 Sabre,

Fwiw, there seems to be a GREAT DEAL MORE nice/mint condition OB up there than anywhere in Dixie. = I suspect that it has a lot to do with we can go boating (comfortably) many more months of the year.

Fyi, I've been looking for a GOOD "matched pair" of 1965 OMC 75HP OB for MONTHS, with ZERO success.
(When I lived in suburban DC, 3 years ago, I could have found the pair in a week or less.)

yours, satx

I suspect salt water takes its toll the motors in that area also. Anywhere in the great lakes area, NY, OH, IN, IL, WI, MI, even Minn or around the Mississippi boundary water should produce some nice used OBs. Check craigslist in the Green Bay area as example. Use the wanted posting if you need.
