Hi folks,

I registered years ago when I picked up the 59 Redfish Shark project but haven't been on since. After some 8 years sitting idle, we finally got the Redfish pretty much done due to our son's insi stance. The 58 Evinrude 35 Lark is quite tired. We have a 67 Evinrude 80 that we are fixing up and converting to a short shaft for her. I've got some questions but figured I'd better introduce myself first.

Take care,
Kerry

Thanks Mark. We've only had her out once. Way to much prop and couldn't get on plane followed by the shifter link coming apart due to a stripped bolt on the shifter coupler. :-/ Backed her all the way back to the dock. Taking her out tonight one more time with the Lark, less prop, and the shifter link sorted out. Been dreaming of getting the 80 hp ship shape and on her.

Welcome back Kerry! She's looking great. I've got a '67 80 that I put inside a '62 housing so it looked closer to period specific to my '60 Wagemaker. It's nice having a motor that will charge my battery now vice just discharging it! LOL

Thanks for the kind words guys. :-)

I actually do have fenders now. Got kinda carried away and over built them. I use them as steps to climb in and tinker. Still need to paint them.

I might pester you for some photos of your engine Bob. I'm trying to determine what's missing and wrong.

Any idea where I could get a reasonably priced harness for the engine side? I've seen new but I can't swallow spending more on the harness than I did on the engine and boat and trailer I got it with.

Wonderful windshield, how did you come up with that? I just started a Redfish this week but I'm not sure of the year, any tips on ID. It appears to be a two seat model with a gusset in the middle of the transom, don't know if that's original. Yours looks excellent!

Well, I couldn't afford the right windshield for her so I found a cheap deal on an old NOS one that was the wrong size, (5" to wide) that had a ding on the aluminum for cheap. I cut a 5" strip out of the center. I went to a local glass place and got a piece of aluminum h channel for 1/4 glass. The center of it was offset a bit. I cut the center our of the h, flipped one side over. and drilled a series of holes to clamp it back together. This formed my splice down the center.

It sat up way to vertical for me so I took some off each side to lay it back some.

At the top of it I put a T piece in made of steel to brace it. I added a couple of small studs to mount a compass while I was at it.
