My 70 vip originally had back to back seats that were missing when I bought it. To try it out I mounted a couple of folding seats on pedestals. I used rivnuts to install them. however yesterday the following happened.

Thes are 1/4 -20 stainless steel Rivnuts 1 inch long. obviously they spread out at the top not under the wood and fiberglass as I thought they wood.
Any other ideas on mounting to a floor I can't get under. The original seats were only using 4 per corner no. 8 wood screws.

You might try some longer rivnuts, and epoxy them in place this time. (Something like Six10 adhesive sealant, or the equivalent) This would also seal the holes in the floor so moisture doesn't get in there a start to rot your sole.

The other option would be to build some 3/4" think plywood "plates" to be glassed down on the floor. You could position some bolts through the bottom with the threads sticking up to mount the pedestals on.

I was thinking of something similar, 3/4" plywood plates, with stainless T nuts inserted from the underside, and attached to the floor plate with 3m 5200.

We generally use six to eight 1/4" or 5/16" stainless steel lag screws. If you can pull them out, your floor is shot.

These are the Ultimate in Stainless Marine Toggle Bolts. But.. I too agree with the 3/4" Glassed In Plywood Mounting Pads and Stainless T-Nuts being the optimum mounting method.

$33.40 for 6 and that does not include the bolts just the toggle portion. Kind of high priced but all marine stainless is off the wall in price.

i had a similar problem i wanted something that i could put down as the floor but also not drill into the floor so i had metal supermarkets cut me some 12x15 inch aluminum plates, with that drilled and put my inserts into that so i wont strip out the treads later on. then i made two sets of holes for my seat base. i wanted to buy some but not while i was building no one would give me the bolt pattern. so i was working at a salvage yard one day and loe and behold there was two 2" seat bases. i got them home and cleaned up and there were good i am using them for my seat bases. i made two sets offset by about three inches i went a bought a slider for the post. most are 2 7/8" mine were 2" they have two inch sliders. so i can glue and screw my sandwich of two 3/4" plywood bread pieces then paint my floor . i also put the pieces together and then cut then on a angle so i stub my big toe. i will get some pictures and post them in the near future with this post again.
