TOPIC: Johnson vs. Merc !

Hi Glassers,
Rick here and I have a question. I'm getting
ready to Power my 7yr project 59 Lake & Sea Carribean
and have a 59 Johnson 35 Super SeaHorse,this is a 2 cyl,
I may have a chance to get a 60 Merc 300 4 cyl.35hp
Being my first outboard I not sure of power or performance
of these 2 engines,Let the Johnson and Merc point, counter point
begin!

i like both , merc and omc. they both would look good on your boat. and it is your boat and your choice. best of luck, just post a pic when you decide. greg

Someone once said
Mercurys are the girls you chase in high school and collage.
OMCs is the girl you marry and settle down with.

The OMC will be much easier to work on and get parts for.

Both are good, I personally would go OMC. 1/4" bolts and flat head screws on just about every part. No special tools required.

I think you should get the Mercury. Just let me know when to pick up that Sea Horse. My 58' Feather Craft is in need.

Can't go wrong with the OMC. If I had your boat I would put a 400 Merc on it. Does that make any sense??
