This actually has to do with my trailer, but also applies to boats themselves. I am restoring the Trailcar trailer for my Aqua Ray and I want to get replacement decals. Since this is not a common make, my guess is that I will probably have to have them custom made. Does anyone have experience in having this done? Thoughts or ideas?

Todd,

The Graphics Shop that I use can scan any image or use a photo that I send them. They can size it to your specs and colorize it as you like.
They have even filled in missing script for me. It's about a 5 minute process for them.
They normally charge me $20 for the first decal and $5 - $10 for each additional, depending on the size.

Check with any local sign shop. You'll be surprised. Most signs nowadays are cut out vinyl on plexi. You take in what you want and they scan it into a computer and cut it out.
PS Gary hope you're feeling better!

www.vinylapproach.com in MA will do this for me for $50 for the 1st pair and $30 for each additional pair. That includes all the filling and smoothing out of colors from the jpeg I sent them. They also have decals/stickers for several vintage boats for about $30 per pair.

Don't forget 9X Marine Decals, one of our sponsor/advertisers here;

I haven't tried them out yet, but their stuff looks pretty nice!

When I repainted my dual axel Trailcar boat trailer, I very carefully removed the original decals. I saved them in an envelope with the intent of one day have replacements made. Never did follow thru. They are still tucked away safely.

Wish I was pulling a dual axel trailer on Thursday. Lost a wheel on the port side while making a turn from one freeway onto a highway. My repair guy that changed wheels earlier in the day apparently did not tighten the lug bolts from wheel to hub. Hmmmmm. Someone is getting a scolding on Monday morning.
