TOPIC: Daytona Marine Engines

Daytona Marine Engines 10 years 2 months ago #97797

These engines won races in 1964 (Bertram), 1965 (Formula, Bertram, Maritime), 1966 (Formula, Souter, Maritime) for a start. What boats also used these engines? Century, Chris Craft, Donzi, Sutphen?

Note, these were vee-drive or direct shaft drive boats at this time. Too much power for sterndrives at this classic boating era.

I hope this is the right forum heading, as there does not seem to be an inboard, direct drive, vee-drive based on a quick search of the board headings. Please correct if I am wrong.

The name is one I've heard in the past and was just wondering. No biggie. ;)

Daytona Marine marketed a pair of 409 Chevy motors mounted on a frame ready to be installed in a boat. They called it a Twin Tandom. They were meant for off shore racing. I bought some 409 parts from them in the early '80s. I don't know what became of them though.

Verne :)
