TOPIC: A Big Thanks To Jim and Dee L.!

A Big Thanks To Jim and Dee L.! 10 years 3 months ago #97576

My Wife and I want to sincerely thank Jim and Dee Lowe for the invitation to boat with them on Badin Lake, N.C. in their beautiful 1963 AristoCraft yesterday! ;)

Many members here on the Fiberglassics Forum know Jim L. and all the help he provides fellow members here. We met Jim and Dee last year at our ECGOA GTG at Falls Lake, N.C. and had been talking about getting together with them near their home in Asheboro, N.C. since last year. Well, yesterday we were finally able to travel up to boat with them and I have to say we had a great time!

Badin Lake is a man-made lake near Asheboro, N.C. The water is very clear and the lake is surrounded by many beautiful homes and woods. Yesterday, the water was a little rougher than usual due to it being windy, but the water temperature was very comfortable for swimming.

Jim and Dee have the nicest 1963 AristoCraft that I have ever seen! Jims Dad bought the boat new and left it to Jim much as my Dad did with our 1960 Glasspar G-3.

Jim and Dee,.....THANK YOU BOTH for a great day of boating!
Sharon and I look forward to having you come down to our area
to run the ICW in the Seafair Sedan real soon.

John, Dee and I thoroughly enjoyed having you and Sharon aboard yesterday. Just wished the lake hadn't been white-capping with hefty wind gusts LOL. We're really looking forward to seeing you guys a little later on to cruise the ICW. A great time with great folks. It doesn't get any better. Jim

Jim letting me drive his beautiful 1963 Aristocraft. With four of us in this 17 foot boat, it will run right along at almost 35 MPH!

Thanks for letting me drive your boat Jim! ;)

One of the many egret birds we saw along the shore of the lake.
This egret set up home right in front of a very expensive lake home!

I know what you mean Jim. I was pretty red up on my shoulders and back too! I guess I should have put my shirt back on after we got out of the water. :)

John,I found this link about the WWII bomber we were talking about in the bottom of Badin Lake. Thought you or anyone else who might be interested, would like some reading on it. Moderators,I apologize if this is in the wrong place and needs to be moved. www.history.navy.mil/branches/org12-6g.htm

This photo shows how high some of the lake homes sit up above the lake. The stairwells leading down to the water are very steep as shown by this photo:
