TOPIC: Need help finding replacement 1959 windshield

Need help finding replacement 1959 windshield 10 years 3 months ago #97074

1959 Glastron Fireflight windshield frame as important as the shield itself/ Anyone have any luck getting this old style window frame/trim.
I dont like the shinny cheap looking Taylor made garbage.

Here is a picture of the windshield and frame I need.

TIA !

I believe Dave A (CC1000) has some N.O.S windshields still for sale, not sure what sizes though.......

You might give these folks a call;
retroboats.ca/boat_windshields.html

Not sure what you don't like about Taylor Made, I think they were O.E. supplier to Glastron and many other boat companies back in the days when they were making windshields? Other than that Ebay, CL, or the Glastron forums may be your best bet on finding a used one.

Hope this helps...... ;)

I agree with what you are saying Mark! ;)

Our 1960 Glasspar G-3 has an ORIGINAL "Taylor Made" Windshield on it and that windshield is now FIFTY-FOUR (54) years old!!

I don't know much about their newer stuff but the one on our G-3 has seen alot of use.

How wide is it from outside bottom of base plate to opposite base plate ? How much of a cuvature is there or the space from the bottom center of windshield to the floor if it was laid flat down.

88, I dont have an original windshield to measure the space in the center but will try and determine from the boat itself. Will report back with measurements.

TIA !

I have a Taylormade on my Tomahawk that is not too bad. I had a new one made for the Seaflite based on the damaged original that came with the boat.

I think there was someone around who was parting out an old Fireflite. Maybe eBay?

Mr. 88 Here are the dimensions you requested.

It's negative 1.25 inches from the bottom center of windshield to the bottom of windshield.
It's 59" from face to face (vertical surfaces) where the screw mounts through the base plate into the boat. Watcha thinkin 88. I have a template also made where I laid paper across the deck and trimmed out the angles of the bends around the sides.

Thanks !

I have heard that Taylor has a computerized template of every windshield they have ever made and if you have the correct year and model of boat they can make it. I am sure it is spendy but for an "original" windshield.
