TOPIC: best aluminum polish

Hello again! I'm in the process of replacing my rail fittings and want yalls opinion on the best aluminum polish. My aluminum railings are really oxidized and regular aluminum polish doesn't even start to bring back the polish. Any recommendations? I'm considering 3M Marine Aluminum polish.

If they are pitted and the oxydation is deep you my need to get more aggressive like starting with 120 grit then 220 then wet sand 400 finally just about any paste polish will bring out the shine. When I do my truck wheels a final touch to get a mirror shine is to rub with crumpled up aluminum foil then rub with dry flour. I know it sounds weird but it really does work. You don't have to get fancy with polish. The only thing that really works is you , elbow grease and patience. Also you can make your own polish with a hand full of flour and some mineral spirits. add just enough liquid to make a paste. With any polish rub till it turns black. wipe and polish with a soft towel. this took about 45 min.

Great tips woodglass, thanks for sharing! I've always used Mother's, but I've seen a product called Flitz used that does an excellent job as well. A "power ball" or buffer makes the job much easier if you can get away with it, smaller pieces just have to be done by hand.

Aluminum Polsih Tips:
Scotch Brite Pads
Maroon
Then Gray
Then White

Next NuVite Polish
#5
Then #7

Finally White Diamond Metal Polish to seal.

This is the only way to go

Mothers mag and alum polish. Works for me. I tried the jewelers route, polishing compound and a wide assortment of other products but the Mothers beats them all hands down. Don't want to sound like a commercial but just pick up a small container and try it, no elbow grease required.

The best aluminum polish IMO, is none. I much prefer the natural patina aluminum takes on over time. It's all good!

Like Mark S.,...I like the "Mothers" Polish. I use the "Billet"
Aluminum Polish from them and have to say that it works GREAT!
I buy it at "Auto Zone." Here is a picture of what it looks like:
