TOPIC: What Am I?

What Am I? 10 years 3 months ago #96211

We have this beautiful and unusual glassic that we are attempting to identify the manufacturer of. We are pretty certain that it's a 1958. It looks like a Land n' Sea but we've been told that it isn't one and agree since ours curves in (boat tail) in the back. Thanks in advance for your help.

57 thru 59 Sea Fury with fins ?
Which also looks like a Fleetform which has no fins ?

This does look like it. I think we looked at this pick and decided for some reason it wasn't the same..Now the only thing I can see that's different is that ours has split front seats.

Let me pull my (what I believe to be) a Sea Fury out.
I'll take some pics and post them. I'll need a couple of day, so stay tuned...

Looking at images on line. It looks like 1957 Sea Fury did not have a split front seat. I'm guessing 1958 & 59 went to a split seat, because mine has a split seat.

And to be honest.... I haven't really started crawling around with a light and magnifying glass to look for hull numbers or tags.

I found this on-line, and it looks like the boat I have ?

So yours doesn't have any numbers or manufacturer's VIN plate either? I understand that this can be an issue with Land n' Sea's boats...it is beginning to seem that it's an early industry issue.

YEP. MANY of the early makers either didn't put serial numbers on their hulls in the early days OR put the numbers on "stickers" that "flaked" or fell OFF soon after the hulls went into service.
(SOME of the "small & independent builders" evidently just didn't "bother with such minor details".)

Wow! Thank you so much. We've been looking for a long time.

So...any ideas what it's worth with a nice, sturdy trailer and rebuilt 35hp Johnson Super Seahorse. 1960's?

We am so excited! Made our day.

leon, yes yours looks like a seafury. but fleetform did make a boat with fins. a 16 ft, and a 19 ft commodore. you have a very nice boat, now we need pic's of the progress you do' frog

Hey Frog,
What part of Minnesota do you live in ?
I have to make it up that way some year to get my Minnesota marathon in.
It will be nice to see blue clear water, instead of the brown murky water here in Southern Ohio

No Worries, Chuck. We appreciate your consideration. Regretfully we need to find ours a new home so don't make yourself too crazy with it. We are fascinated with them just need a motor for another boat that we use more. :(
