TOPIC: help on IDing a boat

help on IDing a boat 10 years 4 months ago #95805

My buddy n I just acquired a close bow fiberglass. It has alumacraft chrome markings but our research might show otherwise. We found that it could be made by aluminum goods manufacturing. It came with a Gale 60hp. The one unique thing about the boat, is that the navigation lights are blue n red, not green n red. If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Many boats up to mid 60s had blue bow lights instead of green.. Back then most rough service light bulbs burn a bit yellow. A yellow light going through a blub lens would show green

If you want to keep the Bow light and want to be legal, and cannot find a yellow light to put in the socket (the yellow will not efect the red for it is already filtered out) you can get a piece of Yellow plastic film and place behind the blue....what little white light gets around the film and show blue will not be enough to get in trouble

AlumaCraft did make fiberglass boats for a few years. I have a 1960 AlumaCraft Tangier - a fiberglass boat.
