TOPIC: Mermaid

Mermaid 10 years 4 months ago #94837

I've been eyeing this boat for a while and finally took a closer look. It was manufactured by Mermaid. This site is the only place I've found any information at all about Mermaid and its very sketchy. I am guessing this boat is a 1960 or 61 Mermaid Jet Sprite but I'm not positive. Can anyone tell me if this boat has value as a restoration project? Also, can anyone point me to where I can find information and/or pictures that would indicate what this boat's interior would have looked like when it was whole?

If it was me, I'd have to have it.

Welcome aboard.

I'd want her just so I could say I own a mermaid!

Someone told me once if you love the boat restore it, but don't do it for the money.

That transom looks wide enough for twins too.

Wise words because you would soon be in the red by more than you want to admit.

Thanks for the advice everyone. It is as I suspected. LOL

We shall see what happens I guess. I am in the process of figuring out who owns it. Its on an empty lot owned by the city. The BMV wouldn't tell me who owns it for privacy reasons but said I could request title information by sending in a form to the state which I have done. I doubt they will tell me who owns it either but I might learn something about it anyway. I feel like a detective. It has an Indiana issued HIN and a registration number on it. Any ideas?

As with any project that has tires or a trailer....If you want the sense of pride....the fun of learning new skills...and owning something you really understand and can brag about. get that boat.

If not it is almost always cheaper to buy one someone has done for you and has to sell.

In my book life is way to short as it is to miss out on the adventure of fixing up a Mermaid.

Enjoy the ride !!!!!!!
