TOPIC: Rpt On AOMCI GTG@Washington, NC

Yesterday we attended the AOMCI GTG in Washington, N.C. and have to say we had a great time there! The Carolina Chapter of the AOMCI has set up a display of antique boats and motors there for the past two years. This display was in conjuction with the Washington NC Downtown Festival which they hold there every year. There are rows of vendors selling many different things along with local waterfront restaurants and food vendor trailers there.

It was a beautiful day with a light breeze off the river. The City of Washington, NC has done a great job with building a nice brick walkway right along the waterway with great views. They also have dock areas/slips for large boats to park long term there.

Our sincere thanks to the President of the Carolina AOMCI Group, namely, Scott Bogue, along with their entire crew of people for the invitation and hospitality they showed to my Wife and I!

AOMCI Member, Bill Goold brought his beautiful 1955 "Penn Yan"
Woodie to the show which he recently restored and now has it up for sale. Here are some photos of that boat:

AOMCI Member Richard Askins is an avid "Barbour Boat" owner. Richard owns a 1960 17ft. "Barbour" Runabout. He also makes memorabilia for the "Barbour" Boats including "Barbour" Clocks (see photo below) and T-Shirts. The boat pictured on the clock is in fact Richard's boat! "Barbour" Boats were produced right in New Bern, N.C.

Richard did not bring his "Barbour" Boat to this show.
