Happy first day of Spring everybody! Time to start getting those 'Glassics, Lummies, and Woodies ready for the water. Anybody care to share their pre-season maintenance or re-comissioning tips?

Mark:

Happy first day of spring to you too!

Our two (2) Glasspars are set and ready to go. I got a new battery for our G-3 last week. Our first boating event will be the "Cape Fear Anitque Boat Show" in Wilmington, N.C. where we will be displaying both our G-3 and Seafair Sedan. I have washed and waxed both boats and will continue to use the ethanol-free gas this year which we started doing last year.

I am ready for all this cold weather to be GONE! Although eastern NC is not as cold as some of the members see up north, we have still had a very cold winter here.

Open water vs ice on my local lake. Ice is still winning. :(

At least the water is starting to show for you. On my nearest lake there was a truck driving yesterday on the ice that melts first.

Yea, after this endless winter, the open water is a great thing to see on the first day of Spring. I got spoiled with the last few mild winters.

The sun came out here in Wa for the first time in months. Took the boat out in the driveway and fired it up to make sure there are no issues with the old Merc. Re-registered the trailer now to convince the wife I need to go fishing!

Oh Yea spring, not that it feels like it here, -24c (or -11f) when I woke up this morning tying the all time low for the day. Here's the snow banks both at the front and back of my home, for reference the fence is 8' high. All the lakes have 3' or more of ice so unless we get a real change in the weather it will more than likely be May before all the lakes are liquid.

Because my love of water that is not hard (aka ICE) is the reason the Good Lord let me be born in TX.

We had a bar ditch freeze over with about a 1/8" of ice overnight here this past Jan and they thought it may have freezing rain in the same front. With that schools were closed for a day and all you could get on the news was how cold it was and that the roads may ice over on the bridges.

I got stuck last year in Lincoln Illinois in one of ya'll's cold spell just before Christmas. I will never travel up north on the roads again after Oct and before April.

A good rule of thumb in Niagara Falls is if the month has an R in it there is a possibility of snow! Spring doesent start for boaters until the ice boom gets let out.

75 here today 81 yesterday. However there is very little water in the lakes We have had little rain or snowfall this year. i am afraid the boating season will not be very pleasant. I may have to drive 300 miles to find water. unless I go to the ocean. That is only 100 miles. :)

10 degrees F here this morning fellows, snow on the way in tomorrow, though we won't get blasted like the New England coast is gonna. 50's maybe by week's end. It has been a very very cold and long snowy winter here. It will be a while till the snow is gone, the lawn half way dry, and I can even get to my boat.

Yall up north need to look into transitional boating. It will get you thru the hard water periods between snowmobiles and boats. I think some cabin fever might have been involved here.

Wow!!! Steelhead and Walleyes. Nothing like Great Lakes fishing in the spring, summer or fall.

I have reduced to the point of watching fishing shows on the net. Bought new line and replaced all my tackle.

17 deg F this morning in Chicago and fresh snow on the ground yesterday.
No worry, winging my way down to Tavares tomorrow for the big show. Did not have the time to pull Mama Mia! down there although Glasspar will be well represented by the FGC. 25 Glasspar boats representing 10 different models are registered to be on display.

If you can make it be sure to stop by and say hey.

I finally did get around to reworking my stern light to where I could raise and lower it. Before, I had rigged it up and never liked it. Also got a better matching speedo for the tach. Next will be getting a battery.Should (hopefully) be ready to go then. jim
