Does the price include the C-clamp that is holding the transom together?

I went and had a look today.. no the c- clamp is just there.. I'm thinking to tie a rope to.. seeing as most of the hardware is gone. There is no badges or builders plates.. just a US cost guard sticker.. The transom seams solid still.. and so does the floor.. We will pick it up tomorrow.. I have and old trailer for it.. and a 55 hp motor. It sure looks early 60's

Oh and what manufacturer put the steering on the left ? There is no sign of the wheel ever being on the right ..

Re:Can anyone ID this boat ? 10 years 6 months ago #91057

robeye,

LOTS of boat-builders put the steering wheel to port, to counteract the torque of the motor. - Generally (I was "clued in" on this by one of our REAL experts this morning), OMC powered hulls steered from the starboard side & Mercury & Scott-Atwater powered hulls from the port side in that era.

yours, satx

Ok .. here's a side photo before we loaded it onto the trailer.. Lots of water came out when tipped up..

We are going to leave it till warmer weather.. It's a 16 ft boat .. has the cool Chevy side panel.. with factory chrome trim..

do you think it could have been a hard top. with the slider windows it makes me think that it could have been. the later pics looks a lot better than the first ones. frog

Oh Oh.. I'm going to say no to the Glasspar.. The windshield is the same.. but nothing else.. This boat is all flat on the top sides.. and the two piece motor well is very unique. I found one of the aluminum castings for the corners of the stern.. there is a grab handle there.. which would explain why they are ripped off. There are soft top mounts that slide on the track /top of side windows..but there is strange pins on the front corners.. which could be a small removeable hard top ?

This US coast guard sticker from 1973 is the only markings on the boat.. ? can it be traced ?

Looks like a nice (and unique) find Rob, congrats! The USCG may be able to research that plate for you, it would be worth a try. If you have a facebook account, this may be the fast track to the info or at least how to apply for it?

this may be a long shot, but I was looking at west coast boats on c/l in eastern Oregon, and there was an I/o boat that had the same windshield as yours. it listed it as a hydro swift. give it a look. it also is a hard top. frog

I found it !
www.fiberglassics.com/library/Sabre_Craft
I scanned through the library and when I got to the Sabre Boats.. There it was .. 1960 Impella 17 ft.. with the convertible top.. You will see a 19 ft and a 17 ft.. the 19 ft is the color I've got.. You will also see that in some of the earlier models they had left hand helm. would be cool to make the hard top ..
