(I've found a Glastron Fireflite hull number: 00415242 on a '59 Dilly trailer for CHEAP.) Hi SATX, did a little checking on your question. The Classic Glastron site has some info on the subject;

They mention the six digit ID number being used starting around 1960, but don't really list the exact formula before that. (Third digit of six is the year model from there, but it changes to the fourth digit when the number goes to seven digits.)

May have to search the factory images section to nail it down completely, or post some pics and I'll be glad to ask the gang over there to help?

I contacted Glastron about 6-8 yrs ago about my 59. They said there was a fire ( forget what year ) and all records were destroyed, so I doubt a list exists. I'll go check my serial #, but if memory serves me right the number is no clue to the year. Post some pics & we can tell you the year.

That's funny and sad that the Glastron Company claimed a fire destroyed records. What fire? When?

The company has changed hands so many times and moved several times in Texas, once to Minnesota and now to Michigan. Each time records and files were tossed out. When they moved from Texas to Minnesota, a semi van was loaded with files and papers. Once it arrived, 90% or more was tossed out. A person in Little Falls retrieved some and still has it. It did not contain records of production or serial number deciphering information.

I think that mine is either a VERY late '57 build for sale in 1958 OR actually built in 1958. - Evidently it was first sold in 1959 as a "leftover". It's on a "small-wheel" DILLY trailer.

PLEASE tell me how well your dual OMC 35s work on that hull. - I'm considering a matched pair of 1958 Johnson 35HP OB for power.

My 59 Seaflite is hull # 115831. One theory is that the first 3 or 4 numbers are the month and year of construction and the remaining numbers are the number of the boat built for that model year. The way mine would work out is that it was built in November 1958 and was the 31st hull built for the 59 model year (or the 31st seaflite built for that model year.) Remember, there was no standard for hull numbers until early 70s.

satx, I wish I could tell you how the twins are, but I've yet to get it wet. I finished it cosmetically for a boat show in, I think 2010 & it's sat in the shop ever since. Got side tracked by a 30' cabin cruiser, but it was destroyed by lightning last year. Maybe this year, or maybe I'll just sell it?
