TOPIC: Please help identify mystery boat?

Please help identify mystery boat? 10 years 7 months ago #90159

Hi group. I know this is an aluminum boat, but wondering if I could pick your knowledgeable brains about the possible year, make and model? It's pretty cool, has built in fins and has a sylish bow to it. No tags that I could find, but it did have a 4-digit serial number stamped on the transom. It's a neighbor/friends boat and he asked for my help. It is 13'9" long.

It is upside down on the trailer, so I rotated a few select pics where I thought it might be helpful.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Mark

Neat looking boat. Did you try the Alum section in the glassic library. Hope you find out what it is.

Distinctive riveted seam on bottom of boat looks like the same design features on the early late 50s "Texas Maid" boats... hard to see any detail in the only brochure listed in Glassic Library Aluminum boats (1958), but it's the closest thing I can find. May be the 14' Osprey or Falcon.

Definately a Texas Made. Prior to 1960 as the fins were gone by then. Due to length may be an Impala like mine. Check the libary by leangth to find the model. No port holes less than 16 ft. Two port holes 16 ft. Three port holes above 18ft up to 22 ft.
The hooked rivet pattern was a designed in feature to show a different
design from the same size Lone Star because the same owners owned both Texas Made and Lone Star at different times. The agreement was that with the sale of Lone Star the previous owners would not start a boat manufacaturing company within 25 miles of the Lone Star factory in Grand Prairie, Texas so they moved up to the intersection of what is now 35E and hwy 121 in Lewisville Texas.
Mine is a 15 ft Impalla cert to 85 hp. I`m working up a 75 hp scott to run on it. I have a long shaft lower section but need either a jack plate or a short shaft lower section. Anybody have either I sure would like to talk to you about it.

Hey Mark, I think he is trying to figure out what it is, what it might be worth, and sell it. He said he has other projects that take priority and just wanted to see if someone might be interested in it... but first, was asking me what it was. If there is interest here on the forum, please let me know. It's located in the Canyon Lake TX area.

I'm guessing it's probably worth about $100-$125 for someone who wants to restore? Anybody have an opinion on that?

He said he had a local restaurant interested, but they might cut it up or just half bury it with plants in it... I would rather help someone get it that would restore and use it.

frogman... thanks for all the history and info! The impala sounds cool... would love to see a 75hp Scott running on one, good luck! Pictures? :)

Thanks, Mark.

I posted some pictures about 5 years ago here before the ownership change.
No telling where they are now. I had a wing tip set on the side of the Impala that made a fin about 6ft long and 2 ft high. I think the title was Too Much Fin?
If there is not a current title, there are very few chances of acquireing a title.

That's cool, sounds like a "Herters" style fin... you can never have enough Fin! :)
