TOPIC: ok seat problem......

ok seat problem...... 10 years 10 months ago #87159

ok i am on my third seat now this one may be actually too big.

i measured the width of the seating area side to side
74 inches
i measured the seat i wanted
24 inches wide
my math is i give about
1 inch clearance on either side
my figures is i have
24 inches of space between the two seats
the problem is i got the seat and it measures
27 inches from outside to outside
with that and the i inch clearance gives me
18 inches of walk through space
my cabin opening is
21 inches
the seat is bigger than it is advertized for and i like the seat
it is soft and the seat area is 19 inches and the bolster is comfortable.

what do i do?????? send the seat back for a smaller one, or live with having to turn sideways to walk past the seats ?????

has anyone had the problem before ??????

If you really like the seats, maybe you should forget about the 1" clearance on the sides and mount them snug to the bulkheads. That would give you 20" between the seats...only 1/2" past the cabin opening on either side.

Gotta agree with Jan, being comfortable at the helm would be the priority in my book. Good lookin' seats BTW. ;)

Take a minute to sit in the seats. Are they comfortable? Do they fit you like a glove? Would you be more confortable in a slimmer pair of seats? If you would, go smaller. If they fit you like a glove and you are very comfortable, make them work. The idea of making they snug to the sides is the way to go. Depending how your sides curve, you may find that you may make up some additional room by moving them an inch or two or more to the stern.

thanks i appreciate the input. i had some smaller seats and here in the south , our butts are sometimes a little wider than other parts of the country, so i wanted seats that would fit just about anybody that sat in them. i had smaller seats in the earlier posts and they didn't sit right. what i don't like is that Wise Seats had them at 24" width so i can send them back my charge but i could get a smaller seat for the other side or get two pontoon seats which are as wide but no arms just a seat and back. that would make them smaller overall. i am going to set it in my position of the steering and controls and mark for my seat mount and then mark where it will hit on the floor then move it to the other side to get the true opening but i have been hearing that there is not much space between seats anyway, more pictures to come. thanks guys it may be all seats in the cockpit, excuse me helm.
