TOPIC: Another boat needs a home

Another boat needs a home 10 years 11 months ago #85839

This is for sale locally for $100. It seems the trailer is worth the money and the boat might clean up nice. What do you think, do you ever buy a package to swap out the good trailer for a lesser trailer and then sell the unwanted but cleaned up boat and trailer? Maybe could make a buck and save a boat from the scrap pile.

Good God Man.... BUY IT for that price.
The trailer alone is very desireable, and you'd have no time selling that for a bunch !

Absolutely, wheelin' and dealin' is the way lots of us get to upgrade without spending a fortune. You're on the right track, that Tee Nee looks like a winner, and as said you shouldn't have any trouble turning the left-overs into cash IMHO. Definitely go for it if you can!

Great find ! .... even if for the trailer alone. But the boat is sorta special. That one looks like one of the first fiberglass boats sold by Alumacraft in 1958. They had 2 models the 14'9"' Merrie Maid and longer Merrie Lady. they had an "interesting" side scallop design and unique grooved bottom, sorta like the million bubble ride some Larsons had. Those two 1958 FG models , I understand, were done for Alumacraft at the Pipestone plant. The one I had was a smoother riding boat compared toothier late 50s bot I've had of similar size.

The blue trailer is most likely an "AlumaCraft" trailer that the company sold, but they were made for AlumaCraft by Tee Nee.

A cool fiberglass AlumaCraft boat!

The trailer is worth $300 - $400 as it sits. The Bow Light is another $100 +, and the windshield is $100.
What are you waiting for?

I heard back from the seller today and someone else called first but the other guy doesn't know where to store it so I am next on the list if it falls through. We'll see what happens. I need to do something with these boats I seem to be collecting. And now winter has arrived. Thanks for all the thoughts, they help.
