The concept and design of outboard motors was planted here in the early 1900's by aliens in an attempt to screw up the minds of the people of earth, inboard boaters in particular. I, for one, simply refuse to be brainwashed by space mutants. Who will line their hats with aluminum foil and join me in a crusade against aquatic weed-whackers to keep the world safe from alien incursion?

Here ya go, E.T !

I agree with the OP. Outboard motors are a gift from God.

You see what I mean? It's already too late for you. The aliens have control of your mind. You must resist. Go out and buy a small block Chevy as soon as you can.

I really do not want to live my life walking around a dog house and as far as a ss chebbie. Not happening here. I used to own a few in land buggies. I had sworn I would never burden myself with another. And it has proven a good decision. I find it really nice when the air turns cold and I bring the pushie thing for the boat indoors that it is much easier. LOL

Some of the newest outboards I have picked up for parts are 4 stroke junk.
You can not beat older 2 stroke outboards for reliability.
The big factor is folks who only know how to turn a key.
You need to understand how to run a piece of machinery on a boat or you needs lots of money to buy new stuff.

I agree. Although it was great until they started dumping all the alcohol into the stuff. Even running conditioners I've spent untold hours tearing the carb off the thing.

Concerning the photos...

The first guy has his eyes rolled back into his head and is obviously receiving instructions to buy an outboard motor, to which he will definitely comply...he has no choice.

The dog appears to be fully protected however...

In the third photo, one look at their eyes (the guy AND the cat) tells the story. They are both zoned. It's obvious that the guy already owns several outboards and the cat is making outboard motor noises.

Snap out of it people! At least go buy some anti-freeze and 10X40 motor oil. Appearances count. They are watching...waiting.

It's subliminal. See the bottom right corner?

As a very wise person once told me, outboard motors are not designed to be used in the marine environment.

Give me an Outboard anyday over an inboard.
Having had both I need not craw under and around to replace a starter, change oil, repair a mount on a outboard.

If one of my Bigtwines does not run as I like I can (and have) changed it out in 20 min, Do that with a inboard.

No blowers required with an outboard

I wondered how long that would take! LOL Funny thread though, we need to laugh more often.

I think it's all in what you're used to working on, I'll be keeping my outboard(s) thank you. ;)

Well I have both. I haven't had to work on the inboard yet as it's in the Century and I haven't started the restoration so the jury is out on that one. ;) As for the outboards, my Evinrudes are veeerrryyy easy to work on so................

Without the benefit of aluminum foil, the fishermen's minds were violated by aliens to the point where both were catatonic. It was then that the outboard struck and a scene of utter carnage ensued.

I like the outboard, but you have to laugh at this video of a sort of review of the Briggs&Stratten Outboard.

I see they have their alternate means of pushing the boat back to dock.

Somewhere back in the 60's Evinrude made an I/O that used an outboard motor mounted inside of course. Maybe an option on a sweet 16? So....put that in your pipe and smoke it.
