Rummaging through my old electric box and found this thing that I pulled off the Shell Lake last summer. The PO used it for something, it was screwed to the inside of the transom but not wired to anything. Anyone??

It measures about 3 1/2" square and about an inch thick.

Looks like a voltage regulator to me.

OK, I agree, never seen one before, are there any instructions that would go with it, does anyone need one. I don't know if it's any good though :)

It's needed for all the earlier airguides, I believe. Can't quite make out the number on it...that decides as I recall, what motors it is used for. I'll need to check my info tonight or tomorrow and will get back to you if no one else does. If it is for a OMC magneto, I may be able to use it....

I think my previous answer got lost in space....so briefer version...

I think most early airguides need it. The number stamped on it, as I recall, tells you what gauge it goes with (OMC, MERC, etc) or something along those lines.

I need to find my notes on them and get back to you. If it is for a OMC 2 cyl 2 stroke, I would be interested.

Doesn't look like an Airguide unit to me. Most of those that I am familiar with were rounded. Maybe for another brand. The number looks like "6BY"

Will look over weekend for my notes and take a look at the box of gauges and senders that I have. Notes weren't where I thought they were, so need to dig out old computer, attach exterior screen, fire up, etc.

Couldn't find notes, but did get to my "stash" and remembered as soon as I saw it. The old round/halfround were original, replaced later with the square ones. pics should tell the story.

Didn't get notes, but remembered as soon as I looked in my stash. Square are new, semi-rounds are old. See pics.

Sorry so blurry---I dropped my camera and think I messed it up!

That's probably the one. All the print is worn off the one I have so I don't know what terminals go where. I also looked through my stash and amazingly found an Airguide tach. Now if the two match up and are for a 1967 4cyl Johnson 100hp golden meteor with CD I'm in luck.

Unfortunately, that is what i will need my notes for. The stamp says what unit it goes to, I think. Not 100% on that, but if time during the week i will try to get to the old computer. Killing me I don't know where the portable drive i put everything on is!

Although the printing is worn off it left a "smooth" surface where it was, all I have to do is figure how to bring that image back to life. The matching tach unit and the relay are matched up on a site I googled. Just need the schematics.

You are not alone in trying to remember where you put the drives. Been there, done that. Thanks for your effort, there is no hurry, I have all winter and more.

Sorry took so long to get back, wibter really beat me up...but didn't forget! Located my backup, but file wasn't on it. Finally got to storage (my freinds house...lol) and pulled out old computer but while the folder was there, none of the files were in it. I am going to have to find it as those files were for my renovation of the club mariner, so when I eventually find them, will post. I mean... they have to be somewhere!

just the fact that the boat is still around makes it a time machine!

this will tell you what tachs go with what engines...just found the site...

www.classicboatwork.com/classicparts/gauges/airguide/airguideinstructions/Airguide_Instruct.html

I'll look at mine again, the square ones may have been made to be universal and depended on how it was hooked up - not positive of that though....
