TOPIC: 68 Aristo Craft

68 Aristo Craft 11 years 1 month ago #83365

lurking around the internet I found this 68 aristo craft " 9teen " boat and trailer, looks to be all there, just needs tlc and full resto......lol. The guy is asking 500.00. I would presume that with old cars, old boats are more a labor of love than financial gain after you invest countless hours restoring. I am curious though, is this year boat and model worth the time, effort and money to restore and put back in the water. I am a former bass boat owner and have never had a cruiser or ski boat but was intrigued by the looks of this vintage craft

Is there anything I need to be on the look out for?

. Any input would be greatly appreciated

if you can get it for the right price it is a boat you would love and most of the parts for the 19 are still available through aristo craft boats I just got a 17 and love it

You asked if is worth the time, effort etc.Yes if you want to keep the boat for yourself and you are in love with the lines on her.No if you think you will ever make any money from it if you decide to sell it for some reason. Might get 10-20 cents on the dollar going that route. So if you really like it,have some time and spare money lying around,go for it...

The other option if you really love the look of the boat is just to buy a better one. Here is a listing for one in Ontario all tuned up and ready to go.

He's asking $1000.00 for the boat and the same for the trailer so 2K for the package. Now the trailer isn't worth nearly the asking price but at least there is room to negotiate.
I have found spending a bit more (lets face it 3 to 4 times what that boat is offered for still isn't much money) will get you a lot better starting point to work with.
Just my 5 cents worth (no more pennies in Canada so I can't just offer 2!)

I do like the look and would keep for weekend cruising, and would only sell if I lost interest or to start something else

Whew Canada is a long way off, the cost for shipping this back to Tennessee would be out of this world

A.R.: Hello , WELCOME, We are just north of CHattanooga on the lake / river.. What part of TN are you in .? I have always Aristo Craft
boats, & they have good following. The ACBS Blue ridge chapter around north GA, have Bill & Gail Turner ,the mfg family.. I would
only consider one with the Sliding hardtop.. NOt every boat had
the top.. Never see solo top for sale.
. They made these in different colors.. Hard to tell on your pics
looks to be re=painted. ? A very few were outboard.. Like all our
models here most guys go for outboards, & easy to re-rig & even a
newer O/B on classic hull is a good upgrade, water eco- friendly.
A 68 I/O is really the condition of the outdrive.. If the buyer may
be handy with wrenches, & access to parts network.. To take to shop
they really could quote $1,200 to rebuilt older outdrive . !!
The other member above with the comment of spend a little more & test drive a hardtop already in operating cond. Has merit.
Let us know.. If you can go & do a compression test on the block would be wise.
