Hello, I have been working for the past 9 months reclaiming my grandparents farm in North Carolina. It has a 4.5 acre pond on it and i had to drain it down several feet to work on the dam. In doing so, much to my surprise I found a boat that had been submerged for years. Would any of you help me indentify the boat and tell me if its worth salvaging? I'm attaching three pictures and can post more if neccessary. Any information would be much appreciated.

What a cool find, and at the bottom of a lake at that!? Welcome aboard Jon. I'll let those with a lot more knowledge than I help you with the ID and suggestions. ;)

very COOL story! No idea what the boat may be, however.

Sort of looks like a cross between a Red Fish and a Whitehouse. No idea on who made it though..

Good luck with it and have fun.

Best guess would be Lake-Flite but certainly not sure of that. Knoxville, TN company but know pretty much nothing about them aside from that.

Jon,

WELCOME ABOARD.

NICE find & since it's finned/glass, I'd be tempted to renovate it IF you can ever get it registered in NC.
(Here in TX it is HARD to register an unregistered boat.)

Is there any metal data-plate anywhere on the hull?

There were literally HUNDREDS of small, regional, independent boatbuilders in the USA in the 1950-70 era & you may have "problems" ever figuring out what it actually is, as so many of those builders went happily about the "business" of COPYING other builder's designs.
(For example, Glastron has so many models in that period, as they tried, without success, to keep ahead of Redfish copying their newest designs.)

yours, satx

Forst thin I'd do is try to get the mud off and look for a plate ,sticker or something for ID. Is any wood left. Being submerged I doubt it although sometimes the mud and lack of oxygen preserves wood. Welcome aboard and good luck.

Ditto....way too many of the initial crowd have dissapeared. Basically the whole west coast due to starting their own sites. Ron Bruce Gerard wrote:

Haven't quit looking in here, just haven't had anything much to say. Doing fine, Bruce. No progress recently on any of the boats but getting some other things done that will make doing some work on them more likely.

Lake Flite Plastics of Knoxville sold out to another company around 1982. I purchased a 73 15 foot tri-hull runabout last year. Was a garage find had been stored for years with under a hundred hrs of use. Came with a 85 Johnson. If I can help you with info let me know. Lake flites had a emblem on the aft on both sides and a model number stamped on the transom.
