TOPIC: South Seas samoan is wet finally

We finished this boat the first time in march but had trouble with one of the motors,we just put it in the back and now we got it out again for Tomahawk meet,i thought it was fixed but it was not ran good on the muffs, But now we are up and running,played with props,got the rpm down to 5200 and 50mph,Trim is now working,,a couple trailer bugs,little more sanding and gel coat but it will be fine,dead battery on camera so I only got 1 video and it was not when it was trimmed but you get the idea,,Bill

Congratulations Bill, there are only a couple of those boats if I recall. How in the 'ell did you find that boat??
Yes, driving the big cats is like driving a couch. I remember launching my 18C Power Cat with twin Homelites for the first time which is probably the closest glassic to your Samoan in terms of size and layout. The ride was a real pleasure.
I just launched my 14T a few weeks back, it's in the Homelite forum.
I also launched my 19' Cat for the first time, again, like driving a couch....I'm selling all my monohulls (half a cat), except for the Dolphin. I guess I'm a Cat guy.

Awesome cat!!! Even sitting they look fast and graceful. I get the warm fuzzy's seeing one back in action after all these years. A couple questions when you have time. How was the original construction? Any de-lamination with all those body curves? Are those 100hp's & what style/size props? South Seas were built not far from me, I hope to get one cruising south FL again one day. I've always wondered if maybe they were designed to target the water-ski shows that were so popular at the time.

This Boat was brittle, It has a complete redo,,complete with mat and cloth, the side and floor has new balsa, and mat,deck underside has had balsa wood when it was split and reinforces, the original Z type structure under the floor was clothed with balsa where we could,transom has knees and all laminated with plywood,the whole boat was ground down to the original cloth .The fins where knocked off and now reattached with inside and out cloth and then filled with a foam in fins for stability, then I had fin tipsmade from aluminium cast that we dreamed up to help take the beating,we are now running 21in 3 blades,we tried 15,17,and 19 s. but we are taching 5200 at 50mph, so I am satified,,Bill
