TOPIC: To Seabuddy it is emotional, not clinical

To Seabuddy it is emotional, not clinical 11 years 2 months ago #80578

Met some new classic boating friends. Renewed a few old friendships. Three generations of boaters were there. Grand kids, sons, wives, buddies.

It is no interest to me to recount how many boats, what brands, what power was on the water today in NC. We were just folks that like a common hobby in a desire to go boating in classic boats. Numbers are clinical, we are friends and family.

OK, pump the other board members for details if that is your interest. I just want to say, I had a GREAT time. Thanks folks for thinking of me. Thanks for all of the dimensions of classic boating we did. Thanks for the ride on the lake.

BTW, no one sank. No one got hurt. I left all of the gang with them and me smiling. Fantastic day.

Chris,...thanks for posting this thread and pictures of our event yesterday! It was a pleasure to have finally met you in person and to see you behind the wheel of our 1960 Glasspar G-3!

On behalf of our ECGOA Group, I want to SINCERELY thank everyone that attended this event and to apologize that I was not able to talk with more of you. As everyone knows, Al Wilson, a member of our ECGOA Group unfortunately had mechanical difficulties with the engine on his G-3 and we had to get him towed back to the launching ramp and docks. At that point we lost contact with some in attendance.

Jim,....that is one BEAUTIFUL Aristo-Craft you and your Wife had.
My thanks to you for helping us out with shuttling some of our group. Jim,...since we both live in N.C. Sharon and I would love to get up with you guys again real soon and maybe hit a lake near you guys.

I want to congratulate my Wife on the great job she did in her newly "refurbished" 1960 Glasspar Seafair Sedan. She has always taken on "hands-on" approach to everything we have done together
and she seemed "at ease" in her boat yesterday. Bob,...thanks for your help in getting her docked.

I know Chris is not concerned with "numbers" of classic boats at this event but "for the record" here is a breakdown of the boats we had there yesterday:

(3) Glasspar G-3's
(2) Glasspar Seafair Sedans
(1) Glasspar Citation
(1) Aristo-Craft
(2) Custom Built Hydroplanes

If I missed any boats please let me know.

I (we) will get some pictures up later today. I have to get out and get both of our boats cleaned up.LOL!

Thanks again to ALL OF YOU for attending ths event!

Sincerely,

John_P

Thank you very much, John. Your and your wife Sharon's Glasspars are INCREDIBLE!! The first thing my wife said as we pulled in the parking lot was "WOW that's a pretty boat" about the Seafair Sedan.Wife got a quick snip of a video of the g3 beside us.It really looked great slicing through the water!

Seems funny to say this on a mainly fiberglass boating board, but, the fact that the race boats were classic wood and they were right at home within the sea of fiberglass on the water, says something to me.

I enjoyed talking to the ladies and doing the typical male grunting with the fellas.

My cell is 518-281-0045, call if I can help in any way.

Quote.... (Sharon and I would love to get up with you guys again real soon and maybe hit a lake near you guys.) John,we would love that! Maybe hit Badin Lake one day during the week or early Saturday morning and you could turn the G3 loose. Usually then, the water's like glass. I'd love to be in her at full throttle!!I'll send an email.

Jim,....that sounds great buddy!

During the week would be fine for us too. I had sent you an e-mail through the message system here earlier. I was wondering if you got it?? I will check my e-mail for your message.

Thanks!

Some more pics from Glassic get em wet 7/20/13. I hope you like the pics.
Again I would like to thank John and Sharon Porterfield for taking care of everybody and a safe boating day on Falls Lake, NC!

Back-to-back Mercs!

14 again

Seriously folks, this is one nice Glassic. I wish the days are longer and we could have spent more time running together!

That 50 Merc looks big on there.

We love to see the young ones happy, and ready to take the helm, if you know what I mean.

Mike,...thanks so much for posting all those pictures of our event!

I am so glad you were able to get some shots of that Glasspar Citation. Unfortunately,...I missed their boat along with Denny's
hydroplanes.

Thanks for all your help up there in getting all the boats in and out of the water buddy!

Isn't it funny how huge the world is when friends who live at distance want and desire to spend more time together. Cherish what time we are given because once gone, you may never have that chance again.

Jim:

Thanks so much for your photos too buddy! I agree with everybody in our group,....you and Dee have the nicest "Aristo-Craft" that I have ever seen Sir! The fact that the boat was your Fathers' makes it even more special.
