News Flash! My Aqua Ray won Best in Show - Preserved at this show today. Very surprised since there were 2 other boats in the preserved category that I thought were in better shape than mine. Nice also that a fiberglass boat wins at a show called "Mahogany Memories".

1) My congrats.
2) ACBS judging is exacting. Best in Show - Preserved is one of the two top Awards at our Classic Boat Festival and Show on the 17 acres of grounds in St. Michaels, MD. Preservation and "as-built" are highly valued qualities within the ACBS arena. 3) What is next up for you? There are perhaps a few chapters that value Classic Fiberglass alongside Classic Wood, but not all 57 chapters are the same. 4) Did you meet Chris Johnson at the Boat Show? |

congrats todd...thats the same class that they put me in even though i changed a few things on the mantaray. i never understood why the woodies are considered preserved as long as 65% of the wood is original. i would think my boat and the one gibby use to own should be in a class called restored custom or classic glass modified. ron

Did Classic wood boaters write the rules for ACBS classic wood boat judging?
Then, ask the same question about the rules for ACBS classic fiberglass boat judging. The folks that spend time at ACBS and go to all the judging meeting across the country are volunteers. They bring alot to their work in behalf of the club. I am nor willing to spend my kids inheritance on traveling across the country. I bet that some of the judging rules committee spend more than $5,000 a year as a volunteer. |

This is the boat at the show.
The original pic I tried to upload from my iPhone, but got the red box. I copied this to my PC, resized it and copied it back to my iPad and posted it. Then it printed fine. Perhaps the red box it what you get now if the pic is too large? |
