Not sure how many were in Utah, but Lee Wangstad and I have compiled a list of boat builders in Minnessota. We are up to 120 boat builders.

I am compiling a list for Wisconsin and I am up to 113.

This is an interesting topic.

Possibly something we may want to add to the library?

Boat Listings by State?

I'll see what I can come up with for New York state, unless someone already has something started?

All those builders were from Utah? WOW.

I see that Gulfstream was from there - any connection to Hydroswift? The Gulfstream hard tops that I've seen look very similar to the Hydroswifts.

Imagine the number of builders from California -

That is correct. These are/were all Utah manufacturers. The list is impressive that's for sure. I am sure that this is not all of them. The list came from the Coast Guard records so I assume it is somewhat accurate. The Coast Guard also lists current manufacturers that are registered by state. I am not aware that Gulfstream had any relation to Hydro-Swift. I own a 19 foot Gulfstream outboard, and my dad owns a 19.5 foot Gulfstream inboard. Not the best boats ever made, but average I would guess.
No wonder there are millions of boats out there. Utah is a desert for crying out loud....
My personal favorite is the "River Woody"....LOL.....

The US Coast Guard list includes boat builders that existed at November 1972 and forward. It will not include any firms that existed prior to that date and were out of business prior to that date. For example, fiberglass boat builder Crownline Mfg. Co/Crownline, Inc. of Onarga and later Cairo, IL who existed from 1956 to 1966.

I have found that the Coast Guard list is really not all that accurate when it comes to out of business dates and details in the "notes" area.

You must also keep in mind that some on the list could have been a builder that made only one boat.

Lee,
I'm sure I speak for tens of fans here, it's great to see you sharing your vast collection here. Just think, craigslist is now being combed for Gulfstreams! I wonder if that is Lake Havasu in the background?
So many boats, so little time...
