I just bought this 1957 Lone Star Continental off a Craigslist ad. A buddy and I went in on the package. He wanted the trailer and motor. I wanted the boat. He went to pick it up, delivered it to me in the dark. It was cheap, so I didn't feel like I was taking a big risk.

As I walked around it with a flashlight, I got more and more excited. Until I got to the starboard side

Ugh! I'm missing the essential aluminum casting. : (

Okay, who knows where the great mythic Lone Star boneyard is located? The rest of the boat is in very good condition, but that missing casting is going to drive me crazy!

There are casting companies that could probably make a mirror piece for you. I have to have a couple of aluminum pieces re-made for the Glastron and found there are companies that will do small contracts like that.

Took off the port side casting and it looks like the starboard one was lost long ago, due to the fading on that side. I don't know why that makes me feel better? I guess "long gone" is better than "gone?"

Cool boat! I'm going to try to leave it alone and run it, as is, this summer. I have several other projects that need to get done before starting a new one.... but it's so tempting to start digging into her.

David,
If your going to run her for a while I'd put some silicone in the seam to keep the water out, just in case.
