I've waited a while for this time to come.. I'm determined to get the Seven Seas restored by July.. I've set the boat on blocks outside my shop and set up a Costco garage over it.. I'll need the shop for the nessary wood cutting. I've stripped the boat down ..even the floor out.. The full story is on my Blog.. with lots of photos.. www.robeye.blog.com

Nice project Rob.
I looked at your blog, nice pics of the stringer and frame arrangement.
I always liked the looks of the Performer boats.
How did you make those nice plan view drawings on your blog??! What program did you use?

Nice project Rob, and a good clean hull! :)

I question whether your transom has simply bowed because of a 100 hp motor sitting on it. Like most every resto I've been involved with or seen, the plywood is likely to have some rot and probably needs replacement. I think it would be a mistake to try to straighten and shore it up with aluminum plate.

I hope you document your resto over here on FG where it will be immortalized and more visible (and searchable) in our Glassics neighborhood. Just speaking for myself, I don't usually wander but about one click out of here.

Cheers,

Dean

Thanks.. And yes the transom needs some help. It's two layers of ply. outer is 7/8 and inner is 3/4. they don't seem to be glued anymore.. so I'm replacing the inner 3/4. it's taken the brunt of the years.. Oddly the inner ply does not go to the bottom of the hull like the outer piece.. which is nicley glassed in and in good shape. The inner ply went to the bottom of the motor well floor.. which was rotted.. and of coarse that wicks to the inner ply. When I remove the inner ply I'll be able to see the condition of the 7/8 transom ply better. I'm not leaving bad wood on the boat..I'm planning to improve the structure of the boat.. more ribs, longer stringers..
