TOPIC: Arkansas Travler Atlas

Arkansas Travler Atlas 11 years 6 months ago #75424

Hey everbody, just started cutting out the rotten floor in my Arkansas Travler Atlas and wondering if anyone has ever done this and what to look for, please reply.
I've owned this boat fifteen years and really enjoyed it, I've had it 20 miles off shore [Atlantic ocean] plus in all the rivers, water ways and lakes in my area.
What I don't like is that it stays wet under the floor board all the time it never drys, I don't know if that a good thing or how to fix it.Ed

Ed Farrow,

1st, WELCOME ABOARD.

Your foam is VERY likely "waterlogged" and needs "tearing out" & replacement with a closed-cell foam to restore bouyancy to the AT.
(The foam that AT used in those days willNOT ever dry out.)

yours, satx

Ed,

As Satx said, the foam will need to be replaced. I'm not sure if AT used poured foam or foam blocks, but I would consider using 4# poured foam to replace it. That will make sure all of the spaces are filled and can't be pockets for water. Also try to seal the foam area to keep water out as best you can.

Look forawrd to hearing more as the project progresses.
