Mike's (Pathfinerz1 or later known as "Pirate Mike") wife Sue sent me an email message last night letting me know that Mike passed away yesterday. We knew he had been battling some health problems, and hadn't been posting much lately. He was a long time participant in these forums, always offering a helping hand and kind words to many with his years of experience. He will be missed, please say a prayer for them and keep Sue and the family in your hearts and thoughts during this time of loss.
She also advised that they would like to sell off Mike's collection of outboard motors and such, please let me know if you'd like her contact information. God Bless you Mike, there's a Homelite powered G3 up there waiting for ya buddy! |

awwww man,what a great loss to us here,i was a friend of mikes on facebook,what a great guy,i will miss him greatly,he and his family are in our hearts and thoughts,my condolances to sue and his family.

A great loss to our boating community.
I enjoyed chatting with 'The Pirate' whenever we got together on the phone. Mike was a real inspiration to me in the way he handled his medical issues, reminding me that there are always friends out there with tougher times than I am experiencing.  RIP Mike! Yes Mike was a wonderful person that would help at the drop of a hat. He was knowlegeable on most any issue and politics would really get him going. I talked to Mike the day before and when I called Sue said he was outside and I said don't bother him I'll call again, but she gave Mike the phone and we talked for a while and now glad I did. He was sitting and injoying the sun outside, we talked about his pond with the gold fish and how a crane got them all one time, never mind the cats. He did say health wasn't that good now but planed on going fishing with Sue on Wednesday, dont know if he made his last outing? He sounded ok to me but didn't like that his leg didn't fit right and that made it hurt. He was also bummed they didn't get much snow this year and the lake was way down. I Trust Mikes in a good place. Best to Sue in this sad time.... B |

Sad news indeed about Mike. I never had an opportunity to talk with him or e-mail at all but I was very impressed with his attitude about his health issues here on this forum. He seemed to have a very no-nonsense approach with his health while at the same time keeping a sense of humor about it all evidenced by his name change to The Pirate.

Oh this is terrible news, I'm very sad to hear this. Mike was indeed an inspiration to all. I hadn't E-mailed him in a while, now I'm very sad I didn't. He will be sorely missed.

Ive been talking to Mike for some ten years. he was my friend, I will miss him and his ways. mike, pick out a nice bay for the G3s......we will be there soon enough, Make my spot under a tree on the point.......

Hi Mark,
I was sorry to hear of the pirate's passing - I have not been a member on the site for very long and did not know him as well as some of the rest of you but I enjoyed his input. I have a couple of G3's now but am always willing to rescue another one - I also need some motors. So, I would appreciate it if you could put me in touch with Sue in that regard (assuming that she still has some stuff for sale). I'm way late on posting on this as I've been offline for some time, but Mike and I exchanged quite a few emails discussing various boating experiences, opinions, etc. when I was first getting involved in the hobby. He also did me a nice solid by providing a part I was looking for. Just recently, we happened to be driving by the resevoir where he ran his boats, and unaware of his passing, I was thinking of trying to stop by and say hello, but couldn't fit it into the schedule. He maintained an outstanding attitude through his medical ordeals, and his passion for life was inspirational, at least to me. He will be missed, as evidenced by the many people whose lives he touched here.

Mike - aka the Pirate?! We've posted back and forth a few times. Once, I think about a starter. I never get used to this. Whether a Vietnam Veteran or a family member or a friend on a forum, I never get used to this. I'm devastated. May god rest his soul.
