One day you wake up and say to yourself,(Self you need a boat!) Now you got to run this by your wife and bear in mind you already have a 22 ft. sailboat, a dive boat and two kayaks! So I run this by her and to my surprise she says (Go for it). Now I've never had a old boat, but I find a Dorsett that my buddy and I get and start restoring. So far so good! But then it happens! You find yourself looking at other boats for sale and you think, (this is a good deal and I should buy it to SAVE it from the boat grave yard). I can't help myself! I now have my wife a little afraid that I'm going off the deep end. She says I need help! I tell her I'm fine and all I need is one more! I mean, I can quit this any time I want, Right?

Has this happen to other guys? I mean I can quit anytime I want! I just need one more!

I'm strapped financially and I can't help the fact that when I look at Craiglist or Pennswoods that I go to the boat section and see adds for things I want. And then they do it. At the end of the add they put, "Going to the scrapyard next week." No your normal and you have found the place all us normal people come to.

Hi Monte,
I was in a van with 7 other guys, on our way to a boat event up in the Muskokas. The question came up ?
How many boats do you have ?
From the 8 people in the van 35 boats were owned.
The next questioned asked ?
How many are operational ?
Out of 35 boats owned 4 were operational !

I figure…. one of us will be on TV soon ?….. Because I believe we are all "one pile of boat sh*t away" from being "boat hoarders"

As soon as the weather turns, I'm going to drag out my collection of boat crap, and post a thread of my pics titled:
"NOT So Awesome Boat Pictures"

And as the story goes :
I've been searching for years for the old man with a barn full of boats to hopefully own one them. And when I looked in my barn,
I realized….. I am that old man.

Yes your in the right place. I too am afflicted but I only own two. One operational and one needs restoring. I do have 4 motors though, but alas only one is fully operational. I look at craigslist all the time but I can't afford to pull the trigger since a divorce would cost me far too much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same thing only different, 1 boat then Corvair, then a Corvair boat now have to build the used metal building that I bought between Corvair and Corvair boat. Looking at trying to curb my clist usage after almost buying a sandrail and a rogers jet boat recently. The biggest problem is that I don't have the money to do any of these things. My name is Mike....where is the smoker's group?

Well I am glad I don't have any problems like this one. The only problem I have is that I now find myself driving down back alleys looking in every yard or parking spot to see if there are any old boats parked anywhere. I just mark off the alleys in my map book so I don't waste time driving down them again. The wife can't figure out why it takes us an hour to go anywhere anymore. I tell her I am doing research for fiberglassics to document how many old boats are still out there. Seems to work so far. Found what looks like a herters today. gonna go back and see if I can get some info on it tomorrow. Skip.

My Wife gave me a serious talking to when I was around 55 boats. She used words like compulsive disorder, sickness and out of control. She took a day off of work to have this talk with me. Long story short I told her I had at least two problems one disorder and two not carring about the disorder. My collection is still growing and I'm still married.

Yup

Here I went looking for another Stingray 185LX which is a very nice boat or another yamaha fx cruiser

But yet my buddy talks me into buying a 1968 Renken.

When I got it back I kept looking at the boat thinking I was completely nuts

But for $150.0 bucks you can't even buy a non floating kayak for that price

Granted ill have over a grand in it when I'm down or more

But boy she's a time capsule.

Keep going... if you stopped counting at 100, that means the wife stopped even sooner. If you have the space, fill it !

But you may want to stop if you start thinking of storing them in the living room, but then again ?, the first boat in the living room, you can call the coffee table. But don't even think of storing one in the bedroom....unless you have a waterbed ?
