Help!
Does anyone know the Manufacturer of this trailer, approximate year, and where a serial number might be located on it?
Thanks,

I can see something under the jack stand on mine but have not removed it to look. The company was out of Michigan and made trailers under the Alloy name and also for boat companys branded under their names. Late 50's early 60's. If you look at late 50's fiber Cris-Craft brochures in the library there are boat/trailer packages with these trailers.

I'm sure somebody here knows the whole story on these.

They were based in Algonac, Michigan. From a quick websearch, they were purchased in 1973 by Production Stamping Inc. of Mt. Clemens, MI.

Wow, only $125 for a boat trailer! I guess when you think about it, there isn't a whole lot there.

It would be interesting to know where your boat originally came from (dealer wise), Steve, compared to mine. My Riverdale came from Riverdale, which is outside of Mt. Pleasant. I wonder if someone bought yours down in the metro area here and took it up to a cottage where mine might have been bought up there.

Here is a triple axel ALLOY trailer under my 1963 Thompson 20'-6" Off-Shore stern drive boat. I have no idea the age of the trailer. Yup, that's a hole in the hull - looks suspiciously like damage from the fork of a fork lift.

Haha, the boat came with it's own manual urination relief system!

Gil, I have one like yours, but unrestored. I can see on my fenders the outline of the word Alloy with the anchor logo. It came with my 16 foot Glasspar delMar. I always suspected it was a kit, and this thread has confirmed that.

A couple things I've noticed about it: One, that single tube frame tends to twist quite a bit, and I see some hull wear at my bow chock from the frame torqueing and the chock shifting from side to side. Two, tire size (width) is touchy due to very little clearance to the suspension. The P.O. installed two brand new 5.70 X 8 tires, and on the trip home after purchasing the rig, the frame cut both tires to the cord in the sidewall. The original spare, a 5.50 X 8, is apparently a discontinued size. I ended up buying two 4.80-4 X 8 tires, load range C, that work, but man they sure are tiny. The tires on yours look like 12". Could you tell me what the exact size is?
