TOPIC: Garr Glass Inborad

Garr Glass Inborad 11 years 8 months ago #73940

Hi guys, I have a boat I intend to sell I have had it for 4 years and I can see I am not going to get it restored anytime soon. I thought it was a Garr Glass and that it was the only one know to date.
But I think I posted here years ago and was told it was not a Garr Glass and there were three known. Anywho I want to sell it and before I do I think I should at least know what make the boat is. It is complete with its original Crosley Areo Jet motor that must need a complete overhaul. I think it is the first inboard boat that was factory made. Any info will be a big help, I want to list it on Ebay, I have $1000 in the boat.
Thanks in advance Tommy in Tampa

Is it a GAR FORM made by Wood Engineering in Oklahoma? The company run by Garfield A. Wood, Jr.?

If yes, there are others in existence. Not many, but some are out there.

Gar Form as a relatively early maker of fiberglass boats and early in using true inboard power in a fiberglass boat.

Here are two articles from the Jan. 9, 1947 New York Times and October 1948 MotorBoating magazine, describing the early Garform fiberglass boats, with dimensions:

Here's a January 1954 Garform ad, also from MotorBoating. Looks similar.
