TOPIC: Jet outboard...

Jet outboard... 11 years 8 months ago #73783

I am buying a boat tomorrow more than likely
It has what appears to be a 62-63 Evinrude Lark V
40 horse with the Berkley jet foot conversion.
I really have no need for it soooooo....
If anyone has interest PM me or post here
and when I have better info I will get with you.
as far as cost ...not sure yet...depends on how
good the old twin is.
I'll let anyone know who is interested

Jim

here is a link to a pic of a similar unit I posted in another
thread a while back

You may want to put an ad on Craigs' for it - they are still wanted by fishermen for small river sleds. Will probably net you the best price - which I'm not sure what it would be. I still see them for sale from time to time - sometimes 600 bucks or more... but have no idea if they actually sold for that or not.

I bought it...now to decide what to do with it
the boat is a 74 Astroglass bass boat
may strip it and sell as parts but who knows
the old twin is a Lark V selectric shift with a generator
needs a few parts to run...like a sediment bowl on the carb
but pulled it through and definitely has compression

I'd think if that jet works it would be worth a nice pretty penny.

For shipping issues I would sell it seperate, that would open up alot more interest. I was watching it but IM also trying to cut down on my pile o parts and wall hanger motors.......lol. Also if you think about it you loose 20-30% hp on a jet unit. So im thinking this set up would be pretty slow, But if you live next to a shallow river............

Mostly I use mine to fish shallow. Wonder if it would fit my 25 hp Johnson? I think it's a 57. I have my Golden Jubilee 35 hp but I wanted to keep it stock.

its a Outboard Jets Kit
Model B35EM
fits 1958-1970 30-40hp OMC
called them today and all of the parts are still available for it

as for the boat..the old girl is still really solid and the trailer is awesome.

I know what ya mean about the parts pile...I went to the scrap yard to sell some aluminum I've collected today and ended up stripping a bunch of parts off an old Starcraft runabout they were getting ready to cut up....real shame too...really nice old boat.

No, it would not. Will only fit models with the double-wall exhaust housing, 35 to 40hp models...
