joe,it looks to be original,it also should have a small chain under the hatch,the hasps sometimes came loose while towing and hatches blew off,john

For your info, my Owens Speedship's Hatch, which is very close to the Cutter, has closures on both the Port and Starboard sides which are the same as what is on the Port side of the picture presented. It does not have a hinge on the Starboard side.
