Looking great! Can't wait to see it on the water! I'm restoring a 65 Dorsett Catalina myself. hope to get it finished by April! Where are you located at? All the best, Monte

Commander - I have what I think is a 67 Catalina. I have a balsa cored hull. Is your version also cored? I love the style of that hull but I couldn't find one in the midwest. I can't wait to see your finished product.

No the hull doesn't have balsa core just glass. But I am reinforce it with couple more layers of fiberglass as I am going along.I also going to fill under the floor with foam I know some don,t like it but I have use it and love it.She is a long way from being done but I am keeping her,so as much work I put in her I will love her more.

Commander - Any chance you have some pictures of the stringers before you put in the floor? I am curious about how mine were laid out and I wonder if they were allowing the option of an inboard motor.

She's looking great! On suggestion would be to make sure there's a way for water to get by the foam and back to the drain in the transom.

, floor was not balsa filled either just glass and stringers and a box around the engine area but the engine is not mounted to any of that it simply hangs off the transom and it appears that is the original confiquration.

I wonder if they changed to the balsa core when they changed the hull design. I love the look of the early hull but mine was the only one I had found closer than California. Heard that the new hull did perform better which is a small consolation.

Dyna Plane hulls do ride better in choppy water - I have had both. I like the looks of the Dorsett during the Raymond Loewy era 1959 1963 best. They have the best lines - jmtc
The first pictures are my 1964 Catalina with an 85 H.P. "FRANKENMERC"
next is my 1962 San Juan - factory inboard 130h.p. Mercruiser " Iron Duke"
Commander - looking good - any new progress pictures ?? Sure liked the wood work you did on your San Juan "Trailer Queen "
