Ya, what the heck are they thinking, those will never hold. Should be using stainless screws with fender washers and locknuts.

Ive seen this before, I was helping a guy at the ramp one day, This guy was having alot of trouble getting his boat off the trailer, he kept backing up the rig but it just wouldnt come off, I talked him into pulling it up (thinking he had a strap holding on) and I saw the screws, he had a look of utter despair......ya see he had just bought his first boat and had repaired the floor, carpet and all.......he screwd the hull to the bunks!....lol.

Just hit em with a hammer and bend them toward the stern and you should be good to go! Add another bilge pump and swear up and down that you bought it that way.

Got to love it!!! I am sure glad I have never done anything like that ( that anyone here knows about!!). Everyone knows you at least need to clench them over towards the stern, like Neil said.

My other thought was that bolts with fender washers would be a lot more secure.

Watching too much TV I guess ?
A can of this should do the trick ?
I wonder when they plan on putting in the screen door ?

Re:What were they thinking? 11 years 8 months ago #73463

Many years ago I had a G3 (wish I still had it!), anyways, the sub-floor foam was completely soaked, so out the floor came and all the waterlogged foam. Then I ended up giving the boat away (sure wish I hadn't), and the fellow gets back to me with there were a few saw cuts in the hull. Well, yeah, I took the floor out as careful as I could, but had a bunch of glass work to do and figured those few narrow holes would get filled from the inside and smoothed out before paint. Not for him, he scrapped the boat!

I wish I still had it, I got an extra 100 horse merc...

That goes in the archive of "shuda/cooda". Never give anything away it only brings bad luck and loss of friends. Should have sold it for a penny.
Shuda kept my '67 XL convert, my '53 Chev convert, my '65 Valient convert. :-(
