TOPIC: FINALLY got my motor

Just a little recap here. I bought my first motorboat 2 years ago at an auction. It is a '59 Crosby on a '59 Gator trailer but no motor. The boat has a Quicksilver control box and a RideGuide steering wheel both of which I believe are Mercury after market products. This made my decision pretty easy to make in that I needed a Merc engine for the boat. So I got in touch with a guy who for years has done nothing but rebuild and restore and refurbish old motors, mostly Mercs. I asked him to drum me up a '59 Mercury to power my boat. That was a year and a half ago and finally this past Saturday he had it ready for pick up. There's no serial number plate on it so I can't say for sure what year it really is but even still I gotta say that I'm happier than a pig in poop even though it's mid-December and I won't get any use out of it for several months BUT in several months I WILL finally get my boat wet...for the very first time!! I've attached some pix for you all to look at. I would love to hear from you all as to what year and model number it looks like. Thanks in advance.

It IS gorgeous Shipster, really looks nice and 'right at home' on your boat!

It looks like a Mark 58A which I believe was actually a 59 model. I owned a white one years ago and it was a great motor. It was very dependable until it threw a rod through the side of the block when it was about 30 years old with about a million hours on it. My dad bought it new, so I knew the history from day one. I wouldn't hesitate buying another one!!
