TOPIC: Windshield

Windshield 11 years 9 months ago #72524

I recently purchased a 1957 Pacific Mariner Lance. The windshield is broken, it appears to be automotive, wrap around, safety glass. I was hoping someone would know what automobile windshield they used on this boat so I could get a replacement, thanks WK59

I broke a tempered glass windshield once when I was moving it and the whole thing exploded into a thousand pieces. It fell right out of the frame.

I'm thinking that if you have a windshield that is cracked, it's either not glass or at least not safety glass. :)

wk59,

Your boat's windshield may be either the windshield or rear window from a Studebaker car. - Studebaker Motor Co sold LOTS their glass to boat-builders to "make extra money" in the '50s.

You might also measure the windshield & compare it to the demensions of Corvette roadsters of the '50s.
(I know that some builders used Corvette windshields, too, because they were "short".)

yours, satx
