I called to talk to the warm body Dave and asked him why he thought that his tank was worth that much. He stated that it was " a very rare and hard to find tank. Not many were made and he was letting it go for a bargain" So I asked him how much my 11 Evinrude tanks That have been all repainted and have new lettering on them would be worth.He told be thousands and he would be willing to sell them for me for a small commision. I told him good luck with his. This guy is really dreaming.Skip.

I don't HAVE either a camera OR the Palmer engine itself. - The reason that i mentioned it was that i got an email this morning asking me if i was interested in buying one off the Eastern Shore (MD).
(While i do have a set of vintage plans for a ducktail/traditional round stern, MD-style, commercial-fishing hull that i cannot afford to build one any more, given that i'm now retired & making less than half of my previous gross.)

i just thought someone here might be interested in the engine. - Palmers are NEAT old engines.

NOTE: a 6horse PALMER could be used to pull-down a house, as they have MASSIVE torque, when used with the right displacement hull, prop, shaft & gearing.

YEP, it is & the "emailer" says that it has NOT been "messed about with" and runs fine. - it came out of a "rotted-out" wooden net boat that has been cut-up & burned.
(he said that the hardware/shaft/rudder/steering/etc. has been sold for another boat - the motor didn't sell, for some reason or another.)

Truth is, he's just a nitwit, who evidently believes that he has "a national treasure", sort of like the guy who tried to convince me that his 10hp Johnson was "really, really rare" and "actually worth more than the 700 dollars that i'm asking".

btw, i was offered a 12hp Buccaneer AND a 7.5 hp Elgin today (which both run) for the total sum of 100.oo.
(I'm buying them. - Does anyone here want (or need for parts) an Elgin, as i HAD to take both or neither?)
