Since I didn't have the fiberglass to finish the transom this weekend, I decided to tackle the seat bases before I demo the floor. I do not like the way the frame is originally attached. Pieces of plywood on edge fiberglassed to the floor (see original pic). The vertical pieces are not even connected to each other.

My solution was to build an independent seat frame and attach it to the new floor when it goes in. I also want to mechanically fasten (screw) it to the new floor to add to any glass work. So I built a new frame with all of the components glued and screwed together with pieces of wood at the intermediate supports and toward the outside of the frame to drive screws through. The other thing I did was to cut scuppers instead of the usual holes for drainage. This way there will not be a lip that holds water, should some get in there.

Nice! Looks like a good solid base. It could probably even support me :)
