That looks cool! Tell me more about what brand of boat, is that an IO? IF so, what brand of drive unit? More pictures would be great!

Not an IO, the lower unit is attached to the bottom of the hull and there is a rudder behind. no idea who made it but it does look like other Mcculloch lower units. If any one knows the history of this drive unit please let us all know. Thanks

That is cool! Never seen one from like that. Is it a Scott boat? Fageol made one similar to that design. It was steered by cables as the lower unit swiveled for turning, no rudder. I was wondering if any Scott/Mcculloch experts out there that have seen this!

Thats what I am hopeing for is input from some of them as I am coming up with nothing online. I have yet to get it home so I cant do much more. The boat just says Rambler, Fort Worth TX. It resembles several boats made by manufactureres in Fort worth.. but not much on Rambler...

This is probably a 1958 60 hp. Only the 1958 and 1959 had the large generators. Only a few of the lower unit parts appear to be Scott parts.

What the......?
Never seen such a set up. Whatever that red plate with the hoses is looks kinda home made. That said, under that generator you will find three sets of points and condensers. The coils will be at the back of the motor near the plugs. The Scottguy.com, AKA Don Webb, can help with any parts you might need. Take some more pictures, please. Lets see the boat this thing is bolted to!

Hello Again! Thank you both for the input, I think it is a 1958 from the serial #. Having I have no idea how a scott works the info on the points and coil packs is very usefull. I will not have any new pics untill after the weekend. If anyone with Pictures of a 1958/9 Scott 60 powerhead can post some so I can see how its suposed to look.. carb linkages, throttle, shift.. wiring etc. that would be great. The red plate seems to be a custom exaust flange going out to a muffler and exaust port on the transom. I will link some pics form the other thred to here.

stashm2,

I don't really know anything about that rig, except that i went fishing in 1976 or 77 with a fellow in south LA, who had a similar IB boat with a V-4 OMC engine, instead of a Scott.

NEAT boat though.

yours, satx

I happen to have a complete 3-carb set up from an identical parts motor including linkage. Coils are gone but most everything else is still available. Let me know if need something and I'll see if I can help.

Ok I will keep you in mind. I wont know what I need untill I get it home and see if I can get it spinning.. I may just need an entire powerhead.... we will see. I think this engine will be this winters project and I will tacle the boat in the spring.

Chinewalker, Thanks this is what hapens when I go for car rides where cool things are for sale :-) Just got to get my Little Utility Racer all varnished and assembled for next spring before I dive into this. (Its all together just needs more varnish paint and you know all that!)

Everytime I see pics of that boat, it reminds me of the blue Rambler station wagon with fins we had as a kid. I believe it was a '59 or so. Just rambling of a older guy. LOL

Well Update on the engine... It seems to be Toast... 2 of the 3 cylinders are all rusty inside and some one has been pounding on them at some point with something hard.. Before me.( I used a pice of wood and dead blow hammer to see if they would move at all.. may be the wrong thing to do but it obviously needs a rebuild anyhow. May have been run that way and run by a previous owner.. but I dont know.. I took the head off and this is what I found..
