I just picked up an old Owens 14' fiberglass boat. I would like help figuring out what year it and the motor are. I found 2 tags on the boat. The first one is beside the front seat. It says Owens flagships serial number 071-18742. The other tag on the transom reads cutter 11496. The engine is a 40hp Evinrude Lark II model #35520 serial #06241. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

IF you will be GENTLE with that OMC, it will likely run a long time BUT it is NOT "their best work", as it's a "bored-out" 25HP (then bored out to 30 & then to a 35HP, before being "enlarged" to a 40) & "just plain over-stressed".
(in 1962, OMC "beefed up" the OB with "heavier-built everything".- in fact, my FAVORITE OMC is the 1962-3 Gale/SeaKing.= that is a GREAT vintage OB!)
