After building Glass boats here in the NW since 73' I gave it up in Nov. 11'.Can't getting the smell out of my system,I found this project to drag home. It appears to be a 62' 17' Flying Scott, with a 50 hp 59' Johnson on back. It hasn't been registered since 2001,but is a good solid boat with not much of the interior left.Wll probably make it fuction first , then move on to the cosmedics. Here's a couple if pics. I'll send them to the trailer forum to see if anyone knows if that's a Scott trailer, or at least the one that came with the boat.Later, Pat

Nice find for sure. Funny thing is I found my Winner in my back yard. My son started working on it and lost interest and gave it to me. :silly:

I mentioned to my son in law that I had painted a 40 hp 1958 Mercury for a guy. He said he knew a guy with an 'old' boat. Did I want it to restore, so I went to look at it and the guy gave it to me !! Here's a shot of the old Merc that started it all !!!

Opps it wouldn't load the after shot so here it is. The owner will install decals. It's going on a 59' Bell Boy Banchee.

Very nice job on the motor. It is going to look really good pushing a boat on the water. Skip.

Did you look for the trailer serial number? It should be on that front cross beam just to the Starboard side of that front keel support. At least that's where mine is

Pat, great find and the price is right too. Gotta keep the juices flowing after retirement and these honeys are one way of doing it. Keep us informed.

Yes, I found a tag. It's a Continental Trailer, Then across the bottom of the tag it says Mfg, Continental Boat Assesory Co. LA Calif. Serial #9170. Do you know if this is one that they may have used. It's about the same period as the boat, the tag is brass and riveted on the side rail just ahead of the fwd cross brace. Later, Pat

You had said earlier that your boat is #61030. Mine is 61196. My guess is that 61 is the year they were built and the last 3 digits are a sequential number. Built in 61 for a 1962 model year.

Tyson,
That make s sence,we allways started our boats the summer before the model year they were for. That way you had product for the January boat shows. Also maybe that's why I got the 'cool' bow lights, left over from 61' and probably cost more, and they found a cheaper vendor. Pretty typical of the way it worked at US Marine Corp.
