John, today is sell your fish day! Good to hear she is going to a good home. Hope you included the handle and len's and a link to this site.
The new owner of the yellow fin picked her up today also and planned on going cruising this evening. Nice couple who will take care of her and are excited to be the proud owners. Feels funny having a workshop that is half empty but it's almost like taking a breath of fresh air. You know the old saying about the best days of boat owners.
When the boat was listed I got calls from Georgia, Los Angeles, Houston, Virginia all interested but never made a bid. The actual buyer lives about an hour drive from me, strange how things work out.
Again, Congrats on finding a good home for one of your stable mates.
Cal

Just another facet of this hobby, letting these old girls move on to their next owner. Some finished, some not.
What's next on the plate John?

frog yeah i was sad,but i figure by the time i ever get around to it,its just not fair for the boat to sit that long.
skip is a member,i just think he doesnt post much.

cal,yep i included every thing that i ever got for the old gal, thanks for the handle and lens.
it is sad to see it go,on one hand but like you said its also a breath of freah air,i only sold it for what was in it.and the same goes for the trailer.

im glad your boat didnt go far from home you might get to see it once in awhile.

neil,im only keeping the custom craft devil ray,and the aqua loop personal watercraft, and plan on painting them to match,or at least thats the plan, lol.
seeing it go away.john

I hate to see it go. In my mind I wanted it bad but I can not do with it the way it should be done.It would have looked nice on my Tee Nee. My boat budget it would take several years. It's hell to be poor man. :( But did you sell him that sweet Yellow Jacket nest too. ;) Now you can concentrate on what is at hand. Which boat went to the dump? Is Ed going to buy that other Aqua Loop? If not what does that fellow want for it? We can tear up Keystone with them. On second thought maybe two old geisers ona couple old Aqua Loops might not be a pretty sight. :woohoo:

John got the fish down to bare bones, the transom is being replaced. Any hints on shining up the Aluminum. SKIP

Regarding Aluminum, I use a variety of techniques. I prefer to use a buffing wheel mounted on a stand. I use leather gloves and safety glasses and jewelers rouge to get it shined up. For Chrome, I like to use bronze wool for initial clean up and then Mothers Chrome Polish. Nothing like a little elbow grease to get the shine going!

I like the Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish, does a great job. If it's really rough, a power drill with a buffing pad or the stand mounted wheel like Hornet mentioned will make quick work of it.

I'll try Meguiar's next time I need some, since they advertise here!

DITTO on Mark's comment. Mother's mag and alum polish. I would try this first and save yourself a lot of sweat. Dip your finger in the jar, smooth it out on whatever your polishing and rub it around until you get the "chrome" look. It does not take much at all. It's what I used on the fish rails, bow piece, and other trim. The tail pieces needed lots of sanding to get some pits out and then the Mothers.
IMHO of course :)
